About the Oregon Coast

Cape Meares

Cape Meares has miles of spectacular and secluded beaches and is a perfect location for beach combing, kite flying, camp fires and storm watching. The beach borders the Bay Ocean Spit, separating Tillamook Bay from the ocean, and offers miles of walking, hiking and biking trails. There is a freshwater lake where you can take kayaking trips or just relax and enjoy fishing. Cape Meares offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. You might see Tufted Puffins, Common Murres, Pigeon Guillemots, Pelagic Cormorants, and so many others. Cape Meares has one of the most populous colonies of nesting sea birds on the continent. Bald eagles are frequently seen in this area, and Peregrine Falcons have also been known to nest near here. It is also common to see Elk and deer roaming through the community. There is always something beautiful to enjoy no matter what time of year you come!

Netarts is a small community situated at the mouth of the Netarts Bay, just south of Oceanside, along the Three Capes Scenic Route. This small community is off the beaten path and offers peace and quiet sought by vacationers who want a truly local experience. Visit the nearby Cape Lookout State Park for some great hiking opportunities and breathtaking views. Netarts Bay spans 7 miles from north to south and is separated from the ocean by Netarts Spit. Inside the bay at low tide, you can search for different varieties of clam, and a nearby marina offers boat and crab pot rentals.

Oceanside is a cozy little village located just South of Cape Meares, and North of Netarts. This community is built on the hillside which offers amazing ocean views and a feeling you just don't get from other coastal communities. At the northern-most end of Oceanside beach is a tunnel through Maxwell Point. During low tides it provides access to Tunnel Beach on the other side. Around the next point at the north end of Tunnel Beach, is Agate Beach, which can only be reached by going around the point on a minus tide and lives up to its name as a great place to search for agates. There are 3 restaurants in Oceanside that offer delicious food  and drinks: Roseanna's Cafe, Blue Agate Cafe, and Brewin' in the Wind.

Some great, rainy-day activities are nearby, such as wine tasting at the Blue Heron French Cheese Factory, cheese tasting and tours at the famous Tillamook Cheese Factory, and airplane buffs should not miss visiting the Tillamook Air Museum.
